Okay, so where do I start?! I enjoy every engagement session that I have the opportunity to shoot because I love getting to know my couples, working together, getting to laugh and enjoy each other’s company before the big day… but this one was a little more special because I’ve known Rachel her entire life. She’s my cousin! We come from a huge group of cousin’s on my Dad’s side. We grew up together and it’s so special to be a part of her wedding adventure! When we started talking about where she wanted to do engagement photos she only had one location in mind… the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Not only did Dex propose in the Outer Banks but it’s where their relationship began. They started “officially” dating after a trip there almost 4 years ago, it’s the place where Dex told Rachel he loved her for the first time, and in February, the place where Dex got down on one knee to ask her to spend their lives together. Are you melting yet? I loved shooting in the Outer Banks! I loved that the place had special meaning AND was beautiful. Rachel started texting me outfit choices MONTHS ago – she was “a little” excited! She mentioned how she really wanted to incorporate red/white/blue and Dex’s job in the Army in a special way. I was on board! I think those images turned out perfectly!
We started shooting at the Whalehead Club in Corolla, NC! It was beautiful soaked in golden light and surrounded with beautiful trees! Dex is in the army so they wanted to incorporate that into their session and I’m glad they did! I love these images!Seriously? The golden light surrounded us through the trees! This photo is in the top 3 for me! It’s SO cute! and #hairgoalsHow cool is this bridge?I felt like we were in Narnia for a second…Another favorite!I love that my job makes people smile. When we started shooting I showed Rachel and Dex a few sneaks from the camera and they were SO EXCITED. It’s the BEST feeling to make people happy and to show them how their love is shining through photos! The future Mrs. Green! hahaHis and hers. Dex already knows EXACTLY which ring will be his wedding band… his grandfather’s ring. He’s worn it on his other hand for years already and next June he’ll switch it to the other hand.Definitely nailed the “red, white, & blue” theme that Rachel wanted!
We ended the evening on the beach in Duck where Rachel’s family has a beach house! The light was soft and perfect for romantic beach photos by the ocean! I could shoot there all evening long in that soft pink light.Mermaid hair goals! (and one of my favorite photos!)
Thank you, Rachel & Dex letting me capture your Outer Banks engagement session! I love you guys and I can’t WAIT to shoot your wedding at Riverside on the Potomac next June!
