I’m calling this a D.C wedding because we went everywhere then ended up at the Hotel Monaco in Old Town Alexandria… but that was going to be too long of a title. Where do I even begin with Julia and Spiro? Upon meeting them for the first time, we clicked. We talked for over an hour. At their engagement session – it was more of the same… lots of laughing, jokes, but also, the most charismatic couple. Their engagement session was one of my favorites this year. Fast forward to the wedding – I walked in the room and Julia practically leaped out of her chair and over a crowd of people to give me the warmest welcome hug! She looked at me in the eyes and said “I’m so GLAD that you’re here now!” I started taking photos of her details – her fabulous Jimmy Choos, her ring, and the moment she opened up a letter from Spiro. It was both parts adorable and hysterical. Back story — Julia often breaks out in hives and had done so earlier that morning… but without knowing that… Spiro taped a tiny benadryl pill to the inside of her card. We all laughed but then we all teared up as Julia read her card to herself in-between trying not to cry.
When it was time for the first look, we headed down to the lobby where I was stopped by these amazing gold elevator doors. HAD to stop and take a few photos of the glamorous bride!!
Spiro and the guys had been at the Lincoln memorial patiently waiting with Erika (my fantastic second shooter!) for the girls to arrive.Julia!!! Ready for the first look!
Julia got set up and we cleared the back hall for their first look! I have to say… I think it went pretty well! SO HAPPY!!!!
FAVORITE!Then we did a first look with Julia & her dad!LOVE THIS SWEET MOMENT!I loved how Julia’s bridesmaids got to pick which dress they wanted to wear! So glam!
Julia’s little brother helped her carry her dress! So cute!
We left the Lincoln and headed over to St. Sophia’s in NW D.C. for the ceremony! Spiro has attended St. Sophia’s all his life and you could see how happy he was throughout the whole ceremony! As soon as the ceremony was over – I kindly “kidnapped” the bride and groom and we drove down to the Old Town Alexandria waterfront to finish up their bride & groom portraits before the sun went down.
Oh SNAP, you two!JULIA – YOU’RE STUNNING!!!!one of my favorites!Back to being a little girl and dancing on her dad’s feet… I used to do the same thing! As the night when on, we heard from several friends who made everyone tear up with their sweet words… or bust out laughing. You know, I actually LOVE hearing toasts at weddings because most times I don’t know the bride & groom that well and after hearing funny stories or words about their character – I get to learn about who they are as people… and how LOVED they are by their family and friends.Congratulations, Julia & Spiro! I’m so glad that I got to be apart of your wedding day. You two are truly amazing and kind hearted! I hope you’re enjoying Hawaii!!! xoxo
A huge shoutout to their amazing wedding day vendors who helped make it awesome!!
