It’s the grand finale of the Flashback 2016 posts! Bride and Groom portraits! The thing about bride and groom portraits is that I get so emotionally attached to certain ones! I could never imagine picking just ONE favorite. That doesn’t exist in my book. I connect with each couple in different ways throughout the wedding experience and have so many memories that change with each wedding.
Each wedding has it’s “thing”… whether it be a wedding that got stuck in the rain and we had to race against storm clouds, or a wedding that had insane details at the reception, or a crazy cool bridal party that made photos with them a blast, or epic shots around the DC monuments, or first dances that made everyone in the room cry… every wedding is special which sounds really silly but with every wedding I shoot… I get to live out my dream job every time.
I get to capture a day that can’t be repeated. I get to capture every emotion in the book. I get to capture first looks and watch grooms eyes widen with excitement as they see their bride for the first time. I get to hear the bride giggle as her groom tells her to spin around. I get to watch the bride walk down the aisle with her focus on her almost HUSBAND! I get to capture the moms and the dads with happy tears in their eyes while they watch the first dance. I get to hear the nice words that the best man and maid of honor have to say about the couple. I get to snag a piece of cake — if I’m lucky. I get to work with incredible couples who let me into their life for this exciting time in their life. I love that I get to be trusted with capturing the moments that they’ll look back on for the rest of their life – those photos that hang on their walls, sit in frames on their bedside table, and inside pages of wedding albums that their families will look at forever.
Wedding photography isn’t just clicking a button… it’s a connection with real people who trust me to capture one of the coolest days of their lives with the people they love the most. What a freakin’ cool thing I get to call my job.
Alright, alright, alright, I’ll stop blubbering about how much I love my job and get to the amazing brides & grooms of 2016!
