3 REASONS TO TAKE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS
1. PRACTICE. Everyone needs practice… whether you admit it or not. Who wants to show up to the big game without putting in the work at practice? Not that I expect you to trip on your own two feet on wedding day if you don’t do an engagement session… but it does make it a whole of a lot easier when you know what to expect on wedding day! My job is to help my clients feel comfortable and at ease during the whole process. I’ve heard horror stories of people saying all the direction their photographer gave was “go stand over there and just… ya know. do something.” — HOW is that supposed to make the couple feel confident and comfortable? I know the first thing I’d be doing is making a confused face and literally having no idea how to take a good photo and I want to save you from that awkwardness and help you figure out where to put your hands and how to laugh and smile while walking. (yes. it sounds silly. it might be… but the photos will be caaaa-uteeee! Trust me.) If anything… come along to have me make you laugh and get a free ab workout. I’m a little ridiculous sometimes and I think laughing is the best way to cure the photo fear!
2. MEET ME & GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER. This is the perfect time to not only practice but get to actually come face to face with the person who will be following you around for 8 to 10 hours on wedding day! I’m literally with my couple more than their parents or friends! Shouldn’t you feel comfortable with me? My favorite part, aside from taking the actual photos, is getting to hangout and hear about who my couple is! What their favorite hobbies are, who is coming to the wedding, etc. I like a little backstory.
3. SAVE THE DATES. Engagement photos are PERFECT for sending out cute save the dates! Maybe you want to incorporate your wedding date into your engagement photos somehow! Shoutout to all the brides you have sent me save-the-dates! I totally save them and hang them on my office bulletin board! It’s so cool to see my work in print!
Don’t be shy for engagement photos! I promise, they really are fun! The most common responses I hear are “that was actually not that bad” or “I actually had fun!” That’s THE BEST! I laugh, you laugh at me, we laugh… and it’s a lot of fun. Can’t wait to hear about where you you want to take these photos and take some fun images for you to love and get excited about!
