Today’s travel post is about engagement session photography! Quite often, I get the email “Do you travel?” 100% YES! I sometimes get hired by couples who don’t live in my town. I’ve traveled quite a few times to capture my clients where they live or where they’ve envisioned having their engagement photos taken. Today I’m sharing locations I’ve shot engagement sessions out of town! I love photography, I love traveling, and I love when my clients invite me to take photos in a city that isn’t my own! If you have a “crazy” idea – run with it! I’m always up for the adventure!
When it comes time for my clients to pick their engagement session location, my next question is the type of landscape they’re interested in. Even if I’m not from a particular area, there are ways I can research ahead of time to get an idea of the scene. Some people have a clear idea or a particular location that has lots of meaning to them while others turn to me for advice. Before throwing every single place out there, I like to get a feel or “vision” for what my client wants. Are they city people? Do they want to be by water? Do they want textures like brick and stone? or trees and open fields?
Without further, adieu… here are some recent out of town engagement sessions that I’ve had the pleasure of shooting! (Click on their names to see their full blog post!)
Kellie and Brian met in Seattle but got married in Chicago! I took their engagement photos just a few days before their big day in the Windy City! I had fun exploring the city with these two and stopping for deep dish pizza afterwards! Win, win!
Rachel and Dex live in Virginia but all of their dating milestones happened in OBX! They started dating there, said their first “I love yous”, and got engaged on the beach; the Outer Banks was the perfect spot for their engagement session!
Rachel and Rob met in the city after college. She wanted to incorporate NYC into their engagement session and I couldn’t have been more excited to travel to the city for their session last Fall. Central Park is so iconic!
I had the pleasure of photographing Andrew’s proposal to Rainey and they loved those photos so much but wanted to have their separate engagement photos taken in Houston! They weren’t sure of where exactly they wanted to go – so I got to be a little creative in finding locations. TIP: I found places on Instagram by searching #houstonengagementphotographer!
Richmond is one of my favorite Virginia cities. It has so much character around every corner. One minute you have a street lined with green hedges and the next you feel like you’ve transported yourself to Italy. At Kyle and Lora’s session, we explored Monument Avenue and the VMFA.
So no matter where you live, where you love to go, or where you want to travel – I’m always ready to capture you in that place. Let’s go on an adventure together!
Tomorrow on the blog – check out my favorite local portrait spots around the DC Metro Area!
