Morgan & Dan | A Navy & Gold Classic DAR Constitution Hall Wedding | Washington, D.C.
I can’t lie… I’d been looking forward to this wedding ever since Morgan sent me the first inquiry email. The details were EPIC to say the least. I mean… once I tell you these details… you’re going to be say “you’re right, that’s epic!!” out loud… wherever you are.
OKAY. Here we go: #1. Morgan met Dan in Kentucky a few weeks before moving to Yemen. YEMEN, PEOPLE. #2. For their fifth date, Dan flew halfway across the world to meet Morgan in Zanzibar. AFRICA… for the 5th DATE! #3. In 2014 they decided to “casually” climb Mt. Kilimanjaro with a group of friends. After days of hiking, being frozen, and having little oxygen… Dan gets down on one knee at sunrise at the TOP of Mt. KILIMANJARO and PROPOSES! WOWOWOW! Needless to say, when I read that bit, I did one of those “NO WAY” things where you read it again just to be sure. #4. Morgan and I start discussing wedding details a little bit more and she tells me that her dress is gold! *drooling* #5. Wedding day comes and I get a look at her cake… and I start laughing because it’s PERFECT! (Just you wait – scroll down to see it!)
Can I get a what what for all this epic???
As if all those things weren’t insanely cool, I was in awe of the DAR from the moment I did the walkthrough with Morgan. The classic columns, the herringbone wooden floor in the reception space, the tall ceilings, and beautiful architecture. EPIC. Morgan’s gold dress fit PERFECTLY with her vision of her day and made it look like she and Dan were the king and queen of the castle. I was doing that thing where I couldn’t stop saying “wow… this amazing” or “beautiful… omg. seriously you guys” after every picture I took.
Here it is, y’all! Just wait until you see it ON her.I found a printed map in the thank you bag that I used as a nice little backdrop for the rings!
We headed over t0 the DAR for first look and portrait time before the ceremony!
A little twirl for Dan!
… and then they started practicing their first dance!
Just making sure he’s not going to step on the dress!
Camille caught me in action!Morgan’s mother passed away but she was honored throughout the day. Morgan’s something borrowed and something blue was her mother’s ring.
Now, bring in the bridal party!
Doesn’t it look like they own the place???
Then we got on the bus to head to the church! It’s OFFICIAL! Congrats Mr & Mrs Staley! These two… the second photo I said – give me a big smile! I’d say that’s what I got!!This was actually totally candid! Adorable! So we were SUPPOSED to be able to get in the side door… but it was locked. So they spent a few minutes trying to get someone’s attention!
We finally got in and snuck up to the balcony at sunset!
Fun appetizers and even better dinner! I got fried chicken! Can you say delicious??
Morgan’s maid of honor serenaded the father daughter dance and it was incredible! Here we go ladies and gents – the epic wedding cake!!! Half wedding half Mt. Kilimanjaro with a replica of Dan proposing to Morgan at the top!!and THEN we snuck into the library!and then we got back to the dancing – like the worm!Gotta whip and nae nae or it isn’t a wedding, am I right?
To top off the evening, there was a surprise for the guests! Morgan used to work with the guy who owns Captain Cookie & the Milk Man! Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches! I can tell you first hand that the Nutella cookie and vanilla ice cream sandwich was HEAVEN!Amazing day, amazing couple – Thank you Morgan and Dan for having me at your EPIC DC Wedding!
